Inter‘s vice president Javier Zanetti praises Andrea Ranocchia and his ‘human values,’ but politely refuses to answer a question about Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international is on the verge of returning to the Stadio Meazza on loan from Chelsea, one year after his €113m to Stamford Bridge.

Zanetti refused to answer a question regarding ‘Big Rom’ during the event ‘Campioni sotto le Stelle’ in Biella last night, just saying ‘Ciao’ to reporters asking for his comment on the striker’s return.

During the event, Zanetti discussed what it takes to become a top-class footballer and praised former captain Andrea Ranocchia, who has recently joined newly-promoted Monza.

“I think the most important thing is to return to the basics. This is fundamental. One player can be good or less good, but human values make the difference,” said Zanetti.

“I think that one represents a club like Inter must understand the shirt he’s wearing. It’s not only about knowing what the club has won. When I arrived, they were talking to me about the ‘Great Inter’. Mazzola, Suarez, Facchetti, Burgnich.

“To me, it was fundamental to know where they came from and that’s what today’s players must learn. I like to highlight the human value of players. That’s why I respect Andrea Ranocchia so much. I wish him the best for his new spell at Monza.”
