Malick Thiaw was sent off for Milan against Juventus for a DOGSO incident – Denying an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity.

The defender had been turned by Moise Kean at San Siro when he hauled the Juve striker down by the jersey, making no attempt to play the ball.

They were some way from the penalty area, but still in the final third and the closest Rossoneri teammate was Fikayo Tomori well behind them.

The referee showed a straight red card, because this foul ticked all the boxes to be considered a DOGSO.

The rules state that when judging if it is an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity, the following must be considered:

Distance between the offence and the goal

General direction of the play

Likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball

Location and number of defenders
