Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta reassured Italy international Jorginho after a huge error gifted Tottenham a goal in the 2-2 Premier League draw, but Guglielmo Vicario earned more praise with his saves.

There were several Italian players involved in the North London Derby this afternoon, which saw Arsenal twice take the lead only to be pegged back.

Vicario continues to win over the Spurs fans with an excellent reaction save to deny Gabriel Jesus in the opening stages, then had to be alert on Destiny Udogie’s unwise back-pass into the path of Eddie Nketiah.

He was only beaten because of a huge deflection off ex-Juventus defender Cristian Romero, then by a Bukayo Saka penalty, but both times Son Heung-min managed to draw Spurs level again.

On the second occasion, it was because substitute Jorginho was caught dawdling in midfield by James Maddison, gifting the equaliser.

Gunners fans were furious with the Italy midfielder, but manager Arteta rushed to his defence.

“I love him, errors are part of football. We are all with him,” Arteta told Sky Sports UK.
