Tottenham have praised Italy international Guglielmo Vicario on social media despite a 4-1 loss against Chelsea on Monday: ‘We saw the very best of GV13.’
Spurs were reduced to nine men on Monday against city rivals Chelsea, but Vicario kept Spurs in the game for a long time, with some fantastic saves.
Ange Postecoglou kept a high line despite being two men down and Vicario helped Spurs by playing as a ‘sweeper keeper,’ as Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said.
Tottenham praised Vicario on Instagram with a video that shows all his best saves against Chelsea which, however, were not enough to avoid Spurs’ first defeat this season.
Vicario is expected to be called up by Italy coach Luciano Spalletti for games against North Macedonia and Ukraine in November. The former Empoli keeper has yet to make his senior Azzurri debut.
