It is possible Milan Skriniar has played his final game for Inter, as the defender was sent off for a second bookable offence against Empoli.

The centre-back is out of contract on June 30 and could well be sold in the current transfer window to avoid losing him as a free agent in the summer.

Just as his agent was speaking to Telenord and describing the negotiations with Inter, as well as talks with Paris Saint-Germain and other overseas clubs, Skriniar raised his boot and caught Francesco Caputo in the head for a second yellow card at San Siro.

Inter had been greeted by crowds outside the stadium celebrating the Supercoppa Italiana, having beaten Milan 3-0 in Riyadh on Wednesday evening, and the trophy was presented with a spotlight and plinth in the middle of the field before kick-off.

There was curiosity to see how Skriniar would be greeted and his name was met with a mixture of jeers and applause, but the red card could now be his final act in the Inter jersey.
