Emotional scenes took place at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris as Sampdoria remembered Gianluca Vialli and Sinisa Mihajlovic before their Serie A clash against Napoli.
Vialli passed away on January 6, 2023, just a few weeks after Mihajlovic, who died on December 16, 2022, at the end of a lengthy battle with leukemia.
Although their path didn’t cross, with Mihajlovic joining the Blucerchiati two years after Vialli’s departure, they’re both considered Sampdoria legends, having contributed to the club’s most successful era.
This is why the club decided to pay a joint tribute with a minute of silence dedicated to both former players, also choosing to wear a shirt with the names ‘Luca’ and ‘Sinisa’ on it.
