New footage has emerged of an outright brawl between circa 300 Roma and Napoli supporters on a motorway that brought traffic to a standstill.

There is a bitter and ugly rivalry between these sets of supporters, so they are banned from visiting each other’s stadiums in away fixtures.

However, they accidentally crossed paths on their way to games at Milan and Sampdoria respectively, spotting each other on the motorway.

According to RAI News, the Napoli fans spotted the Roma bus and started throwing bottles and rocks, so they pulled over and decided to continue the brawl on foot on the motorway.

It brought traffic to a standstill, causing queues of circa 8km and making some genuine fans late for the matches.

  1. As I said before. Football fans are generally not the most intelligent among us, yet we express outrage when they call players insulting names on the pitch.
