New PSG signing Fabian Ruiz said goodbye to Napoli fans with a video published on Instagram: ‘Football is much more than a sport.’

The Spaniard has completed a permanent €23m to PSG after being frozen out of the squad as he had refused to extend his expiring contract with the Partenopei.

PSG confirmed his signing on Tuesday night.

Fabian posted an Instagram video to say goodbye to his former club and fans. The video features some of his best moments with the Azzurri and one of the most popular chants of the Stadio Maradona’s Curva B.

“This is the motto that has accompanied me in these last four years fighting for the jersey of Napoli,” said the 26-year-old.

“You taught me that here football is much more than a sport, that you live in a special, unique way, beyond the 90 minutes.

“From the first day, both the city and the team welcomed me as one of you and helped me grow a lot in a short time and it is difficult to summarize all that I have experienced here.

“I always tried to give back the trust you gave on the field, fighting on every ball and giving everything in every game. In addition to the fans, I also want to thank all my teammates, coaches, technical staff and all the people who are part of this club for these years for your help and your support.

“Our paths separate but know that I am proud to have been part of a club with so much history as Napoli. One more time, Forza Napoli Sempre.”
