Atalanta invested €17m to purchase the ‘new Erling Haaland’ and 19-year-old Rasmus Hojlund is starting to show just what he can do with a spectacular run of form and goals.

The teenager was snapped up from Austrian side Sturm Graz in August and many raised their eyebrows at the big investment, especially for a club like La Dea where talents tend to be homegrown.

However, after taking a while to settle in, Hojlund is now taking centre-stage, scoring in each of his last four games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

That included a spectacular strike in today’s 5-2 Coppa Italia victory over Spezia, and it would’ve been a brace if not for the frame of the goal, bouncing in off Ethan Ampadu.

Atalanta also thrashed Salernitana 8-2 in Serie A at the weekend with Hojlund contributing a goal and an assist, so the Dane is really becoming one to watch going into the second half of the season.

He turns 20 next month and is fast pushing Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata onto the bench.
