While Napoli take to the field in Saudi Arabia this evening, Victor Osimhen is playing for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations and meeting his hero, Didier Drogba.

The first ever African player to win the Capocannoniere title as Serie A top scorer last season, Osimhen is forced to miss club football this month while he participates in the Africa Cup of Nations.

That includes the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final, where his club Napoli play Fiorentina tonight in Riyadh.

Instead, Osimhen is representing Nigeria against the Ivory Coast and that means the opportunity to meet and hug his hero, former Chelsea striker Drogba.

They shared a warm embrace before kick-off and Osimhen has said many times just how much he adores the veteran.

“Life is surprising, when I was younger, I never missed a Didier Drogba match. I imitated each of his gestures, and I did his celebration when I scored against my friends.

“Participating in AFCON in the native land of my idol is an honour for me. I have the impression of being reconnected in a certain way with the kid from Olusosun that I was and who had a lot of dreams, including that of one day being Africa champion.”
