Yunus Musah admits his ‘face hurts from smiling so much’ after completing the transfer to Milan from Valencia, recalling his childhood in Italy and reuniting with USMNT teammate Christian Pulisic.

This is a return to the Peninsula for Musah, who was born in the United States to Ghanaian parents, then moved to England for the Arsenal youth academy.

The 20-year-old joined Valencia in 2019 and was sold for €20m including bonuses to the San Siro giants.

“I am so happy. My face hurts from smiling so much today,” he told Milan TV.

“I started playing football as a kid, we had seven a side games and I loved to dribble with the ball. I had a good rapport with teammates, which included my brothers, I was in contact with many different cultures and that helps in life.”

Musah is the second USMNT star to come to Milan this summer after Pulisic.

“We talked. He asked me how things are going and congratulated me. I am happy we can play together at club level too.”

There is a special reason he chose the Number 80 jersey for this experience.

“I remember Ronaldinho used it, so wearing that will be very special. I liked many Milan players, like Seedorf, Pato, Ronaldinho. My brother is a Milan fan, so I’ve followed them for a long time.

“When Gattuso was the coach at Valencia, we talked and he joked that one day I could play for Milan. And look at me now!”
