José Mourinho is unhappy with Roma’s depth and confirmed it during his press conference after the match against Juventus.
The Giallorossi suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday, so they now sit fourth, nine points behind leaders Napoli.
Roma have collected five wins and three defeats so far, with two of the losses coming in big games against Lazio and the Old Lady.
When asked about his use of substitution during the Allianz Stadium match, Mourinho’s reply was quite clear.
He did it again: Mourinho showed three fingers to Juventus fans
“There are benches and benches in Serie A,” he said.
“Today we played with Karsdorp who had been a doubt until the last moment and then we had Reynolds, Kumbulla and Calafiori.”
After that, he just stared at journalists for a few seconds before the end of his post-match presser.
It wasn’t hard to spot his disappointment regarding the team’s depth.
Roma were the highest spenders in Serie A in the summer as they invested €97.7m in new signings.
They secured the services of Tammy Abraham for €40m, Eldor Shomurodov (€17.5m), Matías Viña (€13m) and Rui Patrício (€11.5). In addition, they made Roger Ibañez and Bryan Reynolds’ moves permanent for €9m and €6.7m respectively.
