The yellow card for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic that has ruled him out of the Rome Derby is causing a great deal of controversy, with some saying it wasn’t even a foul, others arguing the Lazio man should’ve seen red.

The midfielder had initially been rested precisely because he was one booking away from suspension.

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri said the collision with Salernitana defender Dylan Bronn was “not even a foul” because the midfielder simply continued his run after passing the ball.

On the other hand, referee Gianluca Mangnaniello asked VAR if it could even be a red card for an intentional stamp on Bronn.

While it is a tricky situation, most of the refereeing pundits for Sky Sport Italia, DAZN and the Corriere dello Sport argue it was not a yellow card and certainly not a red, as there was no intent from Milinkovic-Savic.

Bronn stood his ground and Milinkovic-Savic continued his run, they collided, but that was that.
