Dries Mertens scored a goal worthy of Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli with wonderful one-touch passing and a cheeky dummy, but it was against their old coach’s Lazio side.
The Partenopei turned on the style at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this evening, going 2-0 up in the opening 10 minutes.
Fabian Ruiz and Lorenzo Insigne combined to set up Mertens, who sent Patric to ground before curling in the finish past his former teammate Pepe Reina.
With Victor Osimhen injured and Mertens back in the centre-forward role invented for him by Sarri, it must’ve been a real blast from the past for the visiting coach.
