The reason behind Napoli hero Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s new goal celebration has been identified, as he is paying tribute to a UFC star.

The Georgia international showed off the new gesture when scoring against Cyprus midweek, then did it again when bagging a brace in the 3-1 Serie A victory away to Verona this afternoon.

He reaches behind him and mimes firing two arrows, so suggestions included he was playing Cupid after getting married last week.

However, it has been tracked down to the celebration of New Zealand’s Ultimate Fighting Championship star Israel Adesanya.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) are very popular in Kvaratskhelia’s home country of Georgia.
