Lazio goalkeeper Luis Maximiano made a huge howler for the worst possible start to his Serie A debut, earning a red card after just six minutes.

The Portuguese shot-stopper was brought in to replace Thomas Strakosha and David Ospina, both of whom left as free agents this summer.

Maximiano made a fundamental error in the opening moments of the game, misjudging the rush off his line as he ran out to smother at the feet of Marko Arnautovic.

VAR confirmed he had handled the ball outside the penalty area, so it was an automatic red card offence.

Ivan Provedel had to take over the gloves, replacing midfielder Toma Basic.
