Brazilian midfielder Marcos Antonio has begun his medical with Lazio.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man arrived at Rome’s Fiumicino airport on Tuesday and is currently undergoing his medical with Maurizio Sarri’s side at the Clinica Paideia in the capital.
He will sign a five-year deal with the Biancocelesti, while Lazio will pay €8m plus potential €2m in bonuses to secure his services from the Ukrainian side.
Marcos Antonio will replace Lucas Leiva in centre midfield next season. The former Liverpool star is set to return to Gremio as a free agent. His contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires at the end of the month.
