Roberto Mancini has overseen his first training sessions as the new coach of the Saudi Arabia national team.

The CT was appointed just 14 days after abruptly handing in his resignation from the Italy job, which he had held since May 2018.

This contract until 2027 will reportedly make the 58-year-old the highest paid national team coach in the world on at least €20m per season.

While in charge of the Azzurri, Mancini oversaw 39 victories, 13 draws and nine defeats, winning the EURO 2020 trophy.

His first games for Saudi Arabia will be played at St James Park in Newcastle, as there are friendlies against Costa Rica on Friday September 8 and South Korea on Tuesday September 12.

  1. I think it is a little harsh to brand Mancini anything when he has achieved and masterminded one of the shocks that none of us ever thought possible.
Mancini had a smaller and smaller group of players to choose from, the mentality of Serie A clubs is getting worse and worse, Spalletti is about to name Immobile as a potetential captain that alone should tell you the sorry state our football is in.
Good luck to the guy he’s probably earning more than every Serie A player put together with the added bonus of less pressure and plenty more home grown players to choose from.
