Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia applied the finishing touches on a blistering Georgia counter attack to give his country the lead against Portugal at EURO 2024.

With less than 90 seconds played, the ball fell kindly for Georgia’s leading goalscorer at the tournament, Georges Mikautadze, who was able to run at the Portuguese defenders from the halfway line before releasing Kvaratskhelia into the final third.

From there, the 2022-23 Serie A MVP took one neat touch into the area before slotting past Diogo Costa and into the far corner of the net.

A win by full-time will give Georgia four points, which could be enough to finish second in Group F should Turkiye lose to Czechia in the other final group stage match of the tournament.

If Türkiye win or draw, Georgia will not be able to finish any higher than third, but four points and a third-place finish will be enough for them to qualify for the round of 16.
