Chelsea midfielder Jorginho sent a message in sign language on Instagram to thank for ‘all your support’ after an ‘amazing year’ despite the Ballon d’Or snub on Monday.

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi won his seventh Ballon d’Or this week, beating Italy international Jorginho and Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski to the prestigious prize.

Jorginho, who won the Champions League with Chelsea and EURO 2020 with Italy, was one of the biggest candidates to win the award, but the Brazilian-born midfielder stressed his year has still been ‘amazing’, despite not winning on Monday.

“My sign name is Jorginho,” he wrote on Instagram. “I have had an amazing year.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support! I have received lots of messages.

“My message to you is:

“If you have a dream (target/goal) then:

“1: Be positive. 2: Never give up. 3: Believe in yourself.”

  1. Oh dear me!!! The man who almost single handedly destroyed our chance to win our wc group and missed a final penalty!!! He is a joke

  2. Overrated. A fraction of the talent Xavi, Pirlo, Alonso, kroos have. Dont know why he was ever in the running. Verratti is 10x the player he is

  3. A great player. My message for him: Win the playoff games in March (so everyone can put the penalty misses behind them).
