Italy international Jorginho completed an absolute nightmare 2021-22 season for penalties with possibly his worst yet for Chelsea.

The midfielder used to be a cast-iron guarantee from the spot at Napoli and for the Azzurri, plus for Chelsea, all the way through to the EURO 2020 Final.

However, since that error in the shoot-out against England, he has been making mistake after mistake, visibly sapped of confidence.

His two penalty errors against Switzerland effectively ruled Italy out of the 2002 World Cup in Qatar during qualifying.

This afternoon, his dismal effort for Chelsea against West Ham United was possibly the worst yet.

Yet the statistics continue to show his strength from the spot, converting 38 in his club and international career, compared to seven failures.

Notably, all but one of those missed or saved penalties were since September 2020.

8 thought on “Video: Italy international Jorginho’s worst ever penalty?”
  1. Jorginho has reached his end of taking a penalty. He needs a long break. Italy still reeling from his mistakes.

  2. Don’t break a sweat over it Jorginho, you’re gonna play against Argentina even if you miss another 10 pens in the upcoming weeks, cause apparently you earned it by winning the euros ONE YEAR AGO.

  3. i really never want to hear his name again, or any news about him. guy is such an overrated hyped unreliable player and a phony.
Juve are traitor fools if they bring him back to Italy.
    go back to Brazil

  4. Jorginho has netted a few for club since “the EURO win”. I think it’s the 1st P.K. he’s missed for club after “the EURO win”. Chelsea still went on to score and win the game 1-0. Even though the WHOLE team played bad.

  5. Something similar happened to Ibrahimovic last season with Milan and he was smart enough to step away and let Kessie take the penalties.

  6. cheech, your name should be CHOOCH, that seems more accurate. Yes he has missed some penalties, however, to call him overrated is just silly. He controls the pace of the game, he is not in there to make runs up the field and beat CB’s. Juve are traitors???? If our big club teams would invest in Italians instead of mediocre foreigners, we would not be in the position we are in right now, so you should do some homework before commenting again.

  7. Absolutely right Giulio. I agree he deserves all the respect. He was awesome at the Euros. Yes, I know he missed against England but what many forget was the way Verratti, Barella and himself dictated the game after England went ahead. Unfortunately he missed the penalties against Switzerland which is the main reasons why we are not at the WC, however he still is an awesome midfielder and I am so glad he opted to play for his grandfather’s country (Frello). Forza Jorginho.
