Inter have thanked their fans and revealed that more than 1 million fans watched the Nerazzurri play at the Stadio Meazza in 2021-22.

The Nerazzurri failed to retain the Serie A title, finishing runner-up behind their city rivals Milan.

Their 3-0 win over Sampdoria in the final match of the season was useless in the title race but Nerazzurri supporters still thanked their players after the final whistle, showing an impressive sportsmanship attitude.

“There’s nothing quite like the support provided by Inter’s fanbase; passion beyond reason, ceaseless chanting, and a never-say-die attitude,” Inter wrote in an official statement, posting the video from Sunday’s post-match.

“Following Inter’s last game of the season against Sampdoria, the supporters gave a warm round of applause to see the team off after the end of a long campaign. It was quite the moving occasion.

“Inter fans have been with the team through thick and thin, experiencing the agony of defeat and the ecstasy of trophy wins. The cumulative attendance this season as San Siro totalled 1,128,377, while millions more cheered on the team from all four corners of the globe.”

The Nerazzurri won two trophies in 2021-22, lifting the Coppa Italia and the Supercup after games against their arch-rivals Juventus.
