Inter players reunited with Manchester United keeper André Onana before a home Serie A game against Cagliari on Sunday, but the Cameroon international said he has ‘no regrets’ about his move to Old Trafford.
Onana returned to San Siro on Sunday to watch their former teammates in a home game against Cagliari which eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.
The 28-year-old was warmly hugged by Italy international Nicolò Barella ahead of the warmup and reunited with other Inter stars and vice president Javier Zanetti before and after the match.
“Inter are a family to me, and Inter fans are a family to me, and I am always united,” Onana told DAZN, as quoted by SOSFanta.
Inter will win the Scudetto next week if they beat city rivals Milan.
“That’s why I came here,” said Onana, who was interviewed before kick-off.
“I won’t be able to be here next week, so I came today to congratulate them. It’s a historic moment for Inter, and I am really happy for the team, which has worked incredibly well this season. I hope they continue to win in the next few years.”
Onana joined Manchester United in a €50m deal last summer after just one season at the Stadio Meazza and has no regrets about his choice.
“I am happy where I am, but I am really happy for Inter, a fantastic team with amazing players and an excellent coach. It’s thrilling to think about what we achieved together last season.”
