Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries is having a sensational game for the Netherlands against Greece, providing three assists – including for Atalanta man Marten de Roon’s debut goal – and thumping the woodwork himself.

There were certainly question marks around coach Ronald Koeman’s 5-3-2 formation, which came after losing three of his first four matches.

Dumfries showed just what he is capable of on the right day with a remarkable first half performance in tonight’s EURO 2024 qualifier.

He knocked down a corner for Atalanta midfielder De Roon to score his first ever senior goal for the Netherlands, then stood up the cross for Cody Gakpo’s chest and volley before assisting the third for Wout Weghorst.

With the Dutch leading 3-0, Dumfries almost got a goal himself too, with a shot that clipped the base of the upright.

Inter can only hope he shows the same kind of form when they face Milan in Serie A after the break for international duty.
