Milan striker Olivier Giroud has become France’s oldest-ever goalscorer and is just two goals away from becoming the all-time leading scorer of Les Blues.

The 36-year-old scored France’s second goal in a 2-0 win over Austria in the Nations League group stage in Paris last night.

He has now become France’s oldest goalscorer and is only two goals away from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, the country’s all-time leading scorer.

Giroud has netted 49 goals in 113 senior appearances with Les Blues, while Henry, a former Juventus striker, scored 51 in 123 games.

There was also bad news for Milan last night as the Rossoneri goalkeeper Mike Maignan was forced off the pitch during the break with a calf problem.

  1. Hope he gets a chance to chase that record. Evergreen, such an inspiration for younger players. My money is on him to do it. Forza Giroud
