With Christian Pulisic on the verge of his transfer to Milan, his former Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud had already spoken highly of the forward. ‘He knew how to use me on the pitch and vice-versa.’
The pair are set to reunite at San Siro, because a deal has been done between the two clubs for a permanent transfer at circa €20m plus €2m in add-ons.
The USMNT star is expected to undergo his medical next week, as there are some red tape issues to be resolved before he can complete the move.
Meanwhile, Giroud already praised Pulisic in an interview with CBS Sports Golazo back in May.
“He was a happy boy, always good vibes, smiling, easy to have a laugh with him. My understanding on the pitch with him was top, a bit like Eden (Hazard), though I played less with Christian. He is very skilful, he can dribble, play the one-two, knew how to use me on the pitch and vice-versa,” said Giroud.
“We had some good times together. I hope he can get rid of the injuries, get more consistency and games, because he is a very, very talented player.”
Even then, there were rumours of Milan interest in signing Pulisic and Giroud was asked if the American would do well at Milan.
“Ooh, good question. People here would love it, so would the coach, he is definitely a big name in Europe. Yeah, he could help us.”
