Sebastian Giovinco has begun his medical with Sampdoria ahead of a free move to the Stadio Marassi.
The former Toronto FC star has reached an agreement with the Blucerchati over a six-month contract with an option to extend for a further season.
He will replace Manolo Gabbiadini, who sustained an ACL tear during the last Serie A match against Sassuolo.
Giovinco, 35, arrived at Laboratorio Albaro in Genova this morning to undergo his medical examinations with Marco Giampaolo’s side.
He returns to Serie A seven years after his move to Toronto from Juventus.
