Former Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has scored just minutes into his Premier League debut for Manchester United, following his high-profile move from Bologna earlier this summer.

Zirkzee emerged off the bench after the hour mark and applied the finishing touches to an Alejandro Garnacho cross for an important 1-0 winner with two minutes of regular time left to play at Old Trafford.

The Dutch international has recently joined United from Bologna in a deal that cost upwards of €50m.

United agreed to pay slightly higher than his original €40m release clause, reported to be around €42m, but in exchange, they are able to pay the fee over several instalments, rather than in one lump sum.

The player’s agent also commanded a hefty fee, which is part of the reason why Milan were forced to drop out of the transfer race. United eventually agreed to pay Kia Joorabchian around €10m, slightly lower than the €15m that had been suggested earlier in the summer.
