Edin Dzeko was sent off for dissent as Roma lost 7-1 to Fiorentina today, but it’s suggested he spat at referee Gianluca Manganiello.
The striker came off the bench at half-time in the historic Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat at the Stadio Franchi.
They were already 4-1 down when Dzeko saw red for what appeared to be dissent, as he was arguing with the referee over the lack of a free kick in favour of Lorenzo Pellegrini.

However, camera footage from a different angle suggests Dzeko spat at the referee just before the red card came out.
If that were to be confirmed in the official’s report, the Roma striker faces a very lengthy ban.
The Coppa Italia is considered a separate tournament to Serie A, so any ban would not apply to the league.
