Boulaye Dia insists he does not ‘like to set limits’ on himself as he joins Salernitana from Villarreal. ‘Franck Ribery spoke highly of the city, the fans and the training ground.’

The Senegal international striker arrived from Villarreal for a €1m loan with an option to buy for a further €12m at the end of the season.

He had his medical yesterday and put pen to paper this afternoon for the Serie A minnows.

Dia contributed seven goals and six assists in 35 competitive games for Villarreal last season.

“I will give my best and try to score as many goals as possible, helping the team to achieve its objectives,” Dia told the official Salernitana YouTube channel.

“I’ll give the maximum, without setting limits. I don’t like to set limits, as I prefer to take it one game at a time and focus everything on those moments.

“I am a very quick striker, physically strong, I like to hold the ball and create as many chances as possible. I spoke to Junior Samba, Franck Ribery and my agent and they all spoke highly of the city, the fans and the training ground.

“I’m very happy to be here. Many people have already sent me videos of the fans to show how passionate they are. It’s important for us to be able to count on their support.”
