Mattia Destro not only scored a spectacular solo effort by turning his defender and dinking it over the goalkeeper – he did it while holding a water bottle.
The truly bizarre incident occurred during this evening’s 3-3 draw between Genoa and Hellas Verona at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Genoa came back from 2-0 down with three goals in eight minutes to lead 3-3, with Destro scoring two of them.
The second was a wonderful solo finish, turning Koray Gunter inside out before chipping on-rushing goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò.
Incredibly, Destro achieved all of this while holding a bottle of water, as he had been taking a hydration break just before the ball broke kindly in his favour.
Ahahahaha! Er primo gol daa storia colla bottiglietta in mano.#Destro#GenoaVerona pic.twitter.com/iMxbHSsKBq

That’s nothing. Back in the 70s footballers would do that with a cigarette in their hand.
