Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis was unwilling to speak to the press on Monday, despite reports that the club has taken the decision to dismiss coach Rudi Garcia.

De Laurentiis was in Rome on Monday, appearing as part of a panel discussing the renovation of stadiums in Italy. Upon leaving, he was pressed by multiple reporters to provide a comment on the current state of affairs at Napoli.

The President was ushered away into his car, not responding to any of the questions that came his way.

One member of his entourage did tell the reporters that Napoli has: “A beautiful, strong squad in a brilliant city.”

Tuttomercato report that De Laurentiis and Garcia have spoken multiple times since Sunday’s fate-sealing defeat against Empoli and that an official agreement over the coach’s dismissal is approaching.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Garcia returned to his native France on Monday morning. Igor Tudor is currently the leading candidate to replace him.
