David De Gea has arrived to undergo his Fiorentina medical after agreeing personal terms with the club, returning to football after more than a year out.
The former Atletico Madrid and Manchester United man has been a free agent since his deal with the Old Trafford side expired in July 2023.
He failed to find a project that sufficiently interested him until the Viola came along with their proposal.
It is expected to be a one-year contract worth €1m per season plus bonuses, with an option to extend for another year at a doubled salary of €2m plus add-ons.
The goalkeeper was greeted by supporters at the airport and then the medical centre this afternoon.
He turns 34 in November and had also been in negotiations for a Serie A move with Genoa and Monza this summer, but was won over by Raffaele Palladino’s Fiorentina.
They reached the last two editions of the Europa Conference League Final, along with the Coppa Italia Final in 2023.
