Watch Matteo Darmian give Italy the lead against North Macedonia with only his second ever goal for the Nazionale, the other being eight years ago.

The 33-year-old Inter right-back met the Giacomo Raspadori cross at the back post to open the scoring at the Stadio Olimpico in this evening’s EURO 2024 qualifier.

It was a fine way to celebrate his 40th senior cap for Italy, ending an eight-year goal drought.

The only previous Darmian goal for his country was also in a European Championship qualifier, 3-1 away to Azerbaijan on October 10, 2015.
