Antonio Conte took a stand when Napoli fans tried to make him join in with an anti-Juventus chant. ‘Do not ask me for things I will not do. Let me clear this up once and for all.’

The coach spent most of his career connected to Juve, first as a player with 419 appearances and then a coach, though that bond was severely tested when he took over at Inter and won the Scudetto.

Now he is back in Serie A with Napoli and during an event in the pre-season training camp this evening, the fans tried to get him to join in with an anti-Juventus chant.

However, Conte stood firm and explained his situation to the supporters.

“I will always be a polite and respectful person, so do not ask me for things I will not do, not just for a single team, but for all teams.

“We coaches have to set a positive example. What I can tell you is that you have Napoli’s number one fan right here in front of you.”

The traditional chant is ‘whoever doesn’t jump is a Juventino’ and the response is to bounce around.
