Antonio Conte went mad in the final moments of Tottenham’s controversial 1-1 Champions League draw with Sporting CP, first to celebrate the winner, then in fury at the referee for disallowing it.

The game was stuck at 1-1 deep into stoppages when Ivan Perisic’s cross was knocked back down for Harry Kane to fire in from close range.

Conte let out all his pent up frustration, running and hugging everyone on the touchline.

However, it wasn’t over, because after a very long check, VAR ruled it was offside and Conte let rip at the officials, earning him a red card.

That decision has sparked controversy and fury too, because Kane seemed to be behind the line of the ball, which would mean he was not offside.

As Eric Dier pointed out to the referee after the final whistle, “the ball went backwards,” so Kane seemed to be behind the ball.

  1. It obviously wasn’t if the ball was coming back towards the player and Kane was onside according to this report. I haven’t seen any of the game though.

  2. The call was correct. Bravo VAR.
If you guys (Mohammed, Dazziano) don’t know what an offside is, that is your problem.

  3. OK, Dazziano, you did not see the footage.
The ball was pas.sed backwards, but it bounced off a Sporting player to Kane who was offside.
Kane was in front of the ball. He seems to be level in the above image only because the ball is in the air.
    Conte is an idiot.
