Video – Conte explains media strategy: ‘It was the right moment’

Antonio Conte explains that his comments after Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat against Burnely last week were part of his media strategy: ‘I understood that it was the right time.’

The Italian tactician sealed a 4-0 win against Leeds on Sunday, bouncing back after losing four of his previous five matches.

During a press conference after the game, Conte said that he was probably not good enough to improve his team’s results saying that he needed to make his assessments with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Conte questions Tottenham future: ‘I must talk to the club’

“At that moment, I understood that it was the right time, after four defeats in five games,” Conte clarified at a press conference today.

“Despite winning the game against Manchester City, I wanted to send a clear message to myself, the club, and the players because we must know that we are here to enjoy football.

“At the same time, we have the target to improve ourselves ask ourselves 100% of commitment and desire and underline that at a team like Tottenham, we can’t lose four games from five. I am ready to do it again, not for an emotional moment but because there is a strategy behind it. But next time I won’t explain you,” he concluded smiling.
