Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini reunited with Leo Messi and Jordi Alba during an MLS match between LAFC and Inter Miami.
The game was played on Monday and saw Messi’s team claim a 3-1 win. After the match, Chiellini hugged and spoke to Messi and Alba, whom he had met several times in the past with club and country.
As shown in a video published by the MLS on Instagram, Chiellini’s daughter Nina joined his father taking a picture with Messi.
Chiellini, a former Italy and Juventus defender, shared several pictures on his Instagram account, including one with Jordi Alba, writing: “Not the result we wanted, but a fantastic night and an important step forward for the MLS movement.”
The reunion with Alba was significant as the two had met barely two years ago during the Euro 2020 semifinals when Chiellini won a psychological battle over the at-the-time Spain captain during a coin toss for the penalty shoot-out.
