Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno has arrived in Rome and will undergo his Napoli medical on Friday before completing the €40m transfer.

The centre-back interrupted his vacation following his participation in EURO 2024 with Italy, so he will have the medical at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome and sign the contract at the offices of President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The deal is worth €35m plus another €5m in various add-ons, with a €70m release clause written into the five-year contract.

The release clause will only be valid from June 2027, so cannot be activated before then.

Buongiorno is 25 years old and had also been linked with Inter, Juventus, Milan and Tottenham Hotspur before agreeing terms with Napoli.

He has four senior caps for Italy under his belt and is a product of the Torino youth academy with 99 Serie A appearances, in which he scored four goals and provided five assists.
