Inter wing-back Tajon Buchanan explains what it feels like to win the Scudetto and become the first Canadian ever to score in Serie A.

The 25-year-old made the transfer to San Siro from Club Brugge in the January window for €7m, brought in because Juan Cuadrado sustained a serious injury.

He became the first ever Canadian player to score a Serie A goal, finding the net once in his 10 appearances, during a 5-0 victory over Frosinone on May 10.

“It was a crazy moment, a very proud moment. I remember picking up the ball at the halfway line, attacking the defender” and going straight for the net.

Buchanan spoke to TLN TV about this remarkable experience and admits he is learning from his teammates “every day” to develop as a player.

Coach Simone Inzaghi won the first Scudetto and is a “very tactical coach” as well as bringing a “winning culture” to the club.

Now that he has broken through that barrier, Buchanan hopes to “give all the younger generation of players back in Canada something to go after. Being that role model for them, that they can achieve anything they want to do in football.”
