Brahim Diaz got his first brace in the Milan jersey, becoming the third Spanish player to achieve this, but also the first Number 10 to do it at San Siro from open play since Dejan Savicevic in 1993.

The forward scored two splendid solo efforts in the first half against Monza, first gathering Ciprian Tatarusanu’s pass from the centre-circle and running at defenders, then firing in Divock Origi’s assist.

He is only the third Spanish player to get a Serie A brace for Milan after Suso did it twice and Javi Moreno once.

Brahim Diaz also becomes the first Number 10 to score two in a single Serie A match for Milan since Keisuke Honda in Verona 1-3 Milan in October 2014.

When it is focused on San Siro, then a No 10 hasn’t enjoyed a brace since Zvonimir Boban in February 2000 in the 2-1 victory over Lazio.

However, if we’re talking about a Number 10 scoring twice from open play at San Siro in Serie A, then we need to go all the way back to Savicevic in March 1993, a 2-0 win against Fiorentina.
