Federico Bernardeschi held his presentation press conference as a Toronto FC player, joining Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito. ‘I hope to score against Giorgio Chiellini’ at LAFC.

The 28-year-old was a free agent after Juventus decided not to extend his contract, which expired on June 30.

Amid other proposals, he opted for Toronto FC and Major League Soccer, where he follows ex-Napoli captain Insigne and former Genoa defender Criscito.

“I am happy they are here, but their presence did not influence my decision,” assured Bernardeschi.

“I came here because it’s a very strong project and I visited Toronto in secret a few weeks ago, falling in love with the city and the people.”

There is another Italy international in MLS this season, as Bernardeschi’s former Juventus teammate Chiellini has joined LAFC.

“Giorgio is like a brother for me, I love him. Obviously, it’ll be difficult to play against him but… who knows. I might score against him!”
