Ismael Bennacer takes fans through his history and admits sometimes he is still struck by the magic of his career path. ‘I look at the logo on the shirt and think, I really do play for Milan…’

The midfielder sat down with the official Milan social media channels to discuss his life growing up to Algerian and Moroccan parents in Arles, France.

He covered starting out in football and making his way through the Arsenal academy, Empoli and from 2019 the Rossoneri in a deal worth €17.2m.

Even at the age of 26, recovering from six months out with a serious knee ligament injury, Bennacer takes absolutely nothing for granted and remains astonished by his own situation.

“Sometimes when I am on the training ground, I will look at the logo on the shirt and think, I really do play for Milan… Then I think of where I was before, what I achieved and where I came from.

“When you look back at these things, it always gives you the desire to do even more. I am truly proud to be at this club and will give 100 per cent every day as long as I am here.”
