Massimiliano Allegri was furious after the FIGC Court of Appeal confirmed a 10-point penalty for Juventus on Monday, but also got emotional during a post-match press conference in Empoli: ‘I am tired.’
The Italian tactician spoke to the media after a 4-1 loss at Empoli which came after FIGC confirmed a 10-point deduction for the Bianconeri. Players had been informed about the penalty only minutes before kick-off.
Allegri didn’t hide his frustration during a post-match interview with DAZN, but the mood was different during a post-match press conference.
The Livorno-born coach looked exhausted after an eventful season for his team, on and off the pitch.
“Tonight I am also tired,” the coach said while putting his hand on his face.
“I think it’s human even if it seems that everything rolls off my back. It makes me smile because you saw what happened when we played a Coppa Italia game against Inter at home.
“Three days later, we played Napoli and we had a 90-minute goal disallowed, with Salernitana at home, we scored a good goal, but it was ruled out. After the game against Napoli, we went to Milan for the [Coppa Italia] second leg, the team was empty and I think it’s normal.
“In Sevilla, we played a good game, the team firmly thought we could reach the [Europa League] Final and in Empoli, with what we got left inside, there was this ruling. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong. But we arrived at the stadium with 69 points and after the warmup, we had 59.
“I tried to tell the team that we still had a chance before the game with Milan, even if I was told that it may not finish here, there could be another trial, I don’t know. I just hope this will end soon, respecting those who are working, then those in charge have to judge, but it hasn’t been easy for the team.”
