Inter forward Alexis Sanchez made a shocking claim in a press conference, suggesting the Chile players were ‘showered in our own excrement’ on international duty.
The comment came when speaking to the media during a difficult time for the Chile squad, especially as coach Eduardo Berizzo resigned this week following a 0-0 draw with Paraguay.
That was played at the Monumental David Arellano, usually the home for club side Colo Colo, but it is safe to say that Alexis Sanchez was not impressed with the facilities.
“In our Federation training centre there are three showers that don’t work and one of us can only use it when the other has finished.
“At the Colo Colo stadium, then, we turn on the showers and are showered in our own excrement. Is this a national team or what?”
The new interim Chile coach is Nicolas Cordova, who as a player spent time in Italy with Livorno, Ascoli, Messina, Grosseto, Parma and Brescia.
