Arturo Vidal suggested that a move to Flamengo was on the cards following his upcoming departure from Inter.

The 34-year-old Chilean midfielder’s contract expires with the Nerazzurri at the end of this season and it will not be renewed, meaning that he’ll be available to join a new club on a free transfer. His performance in the 1-0 win over Liverpool showed that the former Bayern Munich man is still a classy midfielder on his day.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Vidal first detailed his admiration of Flamengo and his desire to join the Brazilian club one day.

“I like Flamengo a lot, the president’s gesture where he gave me a shirt as a gift filled my heart. I dream of playing there, I hope to do it very soon. When the management wants me to, I’ll do everything I can to go there.

“My European chapter could end, I don’t know if it’s the right time but if it does my next objective will be one, to win with Flamengo. The team is competitive, the best in South America.”

He gave his thoughts on Alexis Sanchez, who has been much criticised following his red card in the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

“I see that he’s well and happy. Yes, he is a lion in a cage, someone like him should play, to see him on the bench is difficult with all that he shows every time he goes on the pitch. But I don’t want to get involved in the coach’s decisions.”

The Chilean midfielder touched on his decision to die his hair white.

“I did it for a change, maybe with this hair the coach will see me a bit more as I haven’t played many games.”

Finally, Vidal discussed his future and his desire to become a coach.

“God willing, I’ll become the coach of the Chilean national team. I’m learning by watching a lot of football, I really like the 4-3-3. My goal is to coach a club team first and then Chile.”
