Guglielmo Vicario’s agent Gabriele Giuffrida confirms Roma are among the clubs interested in the Empoli goalkeeper, although he also has ‘requests from abroad.’

The 26-year-old has been one of the best goalkeepers in Italy’s top flight over the last two seasons, attracting interest from several clubs across Europe, including Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Roma and Juventus.

In his latest interview with Pagine Romaniste, the goalkeeper’s agent confirmed the Giallorossi’s desire to put his client under contract.

“For now, there are only preliminary talks, not only with Roma but also with other important Serie A clubs. It wouldn’t be fair to deny it. Everyone’s interested; we’ve had contacts with the Giallorossi, but this is just a hypothesis for now. Surely he [Vicario] has many admirers.”

Are clubs outside Serie A also interested?

“Yes, they are,” confirmed Giuffrida.

“The Italian market isn’t easy, especially for the current financial situation and the Juventus condition that must be clarified and is having an impact. We’ll see if other teams will show up.”

Vicario, 26, is currently dealing with a chest injury but his agent confirmed that he is “improving” and is “feeling better.”

Giuffrida is also the representative of Hamed Traorè who joined Bournemouth from Sassuolo in January. The 23-year-old was an option for Roma to replace Nicolò Zaniolo, but the Italian left the Giallorossi after the end of the January transfer window, joining Galatasaray in Turkey where it was possible to finalise deals in the first week of February.

“There was a possibility, but the end wasn’t good,” the player’s agent admitted.

“It would have been a domino involving Zaniolo and Traore, who were in talks with the same team, you know how it ended, now it belongs to the past.”
