“The desire mainly came from him,” club technical director Eduardo Macia told the Corriere Fiorentino on Monday.
“It almost placed us into some difficulty given the reality of our club. He really liked the identity of Fiorentina and how we play.
“At a certain point he became another dream for us which we tried to make real.”
The former Pescara player, who only moved to PSG last summer, eventually put pen to paper on a new improved deal until June 2018.
