Marco Verratti accused Bjorn Kuipers of telling PSG players to ‘f…off, three or four times,’ during their 2-0 defeat against Manchester City.
The Ligue 1 giants were eliminated from the Champions League semi-final as Pep Guardiola’s side qualified for the Final of Europe’s elite competition for their first time in their history.
“It’s not easy, we were so close to the Final, and we wanted to go all the way, we are disappointed, it’s difficult to find the right word
“It’s not easy, we were so close to the Final, and we wanted to go all the way, we are disappointed, it’s difficult to find the right words," Verratti told Sky Sport Italia.
“I think the best thing to do is to to take a good look at each other, we were in race until Di Maria was sent off. At that point we needed a miracle.”
Is there anything Verratti didn’t like about the refereeing?
“The only thing I don’t like is when the referee tells you to ‘f…off,’ we always try to be respectful, but he did that three or four times during the game.
“He started giving yellow cards here and there and we became a little nervous. It’s not his fault. Manchester City deserve to qualify, they have great players. We could have done more in the first leg.
“We conceded a stupid goal in the second half. We’ll try again next season. We have a great squad. Only one team wins the Champions League and there are so many great clubs.
“When you face these games, details make the difference, we conceded two naive goals in the first leg. We are on the right path, we need to continue to grow as a team.
“The coach has helped us, he arrived here only five months ago.”
