Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has tested positive for coronavirus upon his return from international duty with Italy.

Leonardo Bonucci contracted COVID-19 during the stay with Italy and now the Azzurri midfielder received a positive result in the latest swab test in the French capital.

The club have officially announced that the Italy international emerged positive after having returned from his duties with the Italian squad in the World Cup Qualifiers.

The club have officially announced that the Italy international emerged positive after having returned from his duties with the Italian squad in the World Cup Qualifiers.

“Following the last Sars-Cov2 PCR test, Marco Verratti is confirmed positive,” PSG wrote in an official statement.

“He will therefore respect isolation and is subject to the appropriate health protocol.”

Verratti played in two out of three games in the qualifiers, having sat out the last match against Lithuania with a thigh injury.
